Bradley and Hubbard Arts and Crafts Mission Monk Face Hammered Chandelier in Patinated Bronze with Slag Glass #2654

Monk face lights are some of the most highly prized lights of Craftsman or Arts and Crafts lighting.  Most common are the lights by Gaumer of Philadelphia, but here we have what we think is the superior (and harder to find) example commonly attributed to master metalsmith Bradley and Hubbard.   Their version has better definition and deeper details with a lighter more elegant and less heavy looking design, while still as physically heavy, being cast iron and steel.  This model is plated in bronze and we gave it a new patina with traditional methods of heating the metal parts and treating with liver of sulfur and ferric nitrate.    It was necessary to replace four of the panels of caramel opalescent glass that here missing before rewiring.
